Surah 53

The Star

1. By the Star when it dives,
2. Your companion [the diving Star] is neither lost, and nor does he delude,
3. And nor does he utter about passion,
4. It is but an inspiration that is inspired,
5. Who taught him: [is] of Strong Power,
6. Of Motion, then surmounted/settled,
7. Is He on the Highest Horizon,
8. Then came near and dangled,
9. So was He two cubits close or nearer,
10. So He inspired to the abider in Him what He inspired,
11. The heart lied not about what it saw,
12. Do you [the people] dispute it about what it sees?
13. And it has seen Him at another Descent,
14. Right at the Shore/Tree of the Terminal,
15. Where is the Garden of refuge,
16. As the Tree is obscured by what obscures it,
17. Vision has not been confused, and neither did it dominate,
18. It has [already] seen some of its Lord’s major marvels,
[The expressions that have been used to allude to a state of total enlightenment have been re-used in the Hikmah, to remind of their true essences, and to free them from the fallacies of Islamic scholars and Quránic interpreters,

But it seems that Druze authorities believe that they know better, and they have come up with their own vernacular, which reduces enlightenment to the mere birth as Druze, reviving thus an old belief in the predetermined salvation that the people of Israel believed prior to Christianity, and perhaps still do …

And one would ask why the mention of such visions, if it is certain that misconception and misinterpretation is their definite destiny,
The answer is that: although, perhaps only a handful of people, since the delivery of the Qurán, the Hikmah and other ancient Books: have known them: this is their purpose …

As the Ghita goes, roughly: out of the thousands of people who attempt to go on a path of enlightenment very few persist, and of the thousands of those very few travel the entire road, out of the thousands of those very few can reach Full knowledge,
So do your math and you’ll get to the same conclusion,
But to the very few who do: this is their confirmation of their Real Covenant,

But we’re living in a time when there’s so much hatred, selfishness and corruption: that normal human behaviour is being referred to as holiness and enlightenment, and the lecturers on this kind of “enlightenment”: are too many, none of whom seem to know anything about enlightenment, with the exception of the Karmapa Ogyen …, in COB’s opinion,
Not only does this affirm crooked ideologies and morality as “normal”, but makes normal look unachievable …!

In a chain of posts shortly in the future, COB will explore this area of confusion, and will shed light on a new method of meditation and living by Virtue, whatever you call it: Dharma, Law, spiritual Shariah … for the busy person,

Life in seclusion, surrounded by like-minded monks, having to do little in the way of earning a living and maintaining a healthy life, in complete isolation from the temptations of mind distractions and sensual pleasures: is not possible today to many people, … time has changed.]

19. So, have you [the people] seen al-Laat and al-Uzza?
20. And Manaat, the other third?
[The names are of pre-Islamic Arab gods.]

21. Is it yours the male, and his is the female?
22. This is a botched division,
[The mythology around the concept of male and female of then Arabs is totally lost now, and one can’t trust whatever has been written about the beliefs and traditions of that time …, as we’ve explained before,
But from Qur’anic verses, we know that the practical application of it was the burying of female children alive …, perhaps according to some criterion or for sacrificial purposes …
I can only imagine that the slaughter of sheep and other culinary animals at Hajj was enforced upon them by the prophet, as a distraction from and a substitute for the eviler practice …]

23. This is none but names you [the people] have named, and your forefathers, God has descended no authority upon them; they follow none but suspicion and the selves’ passion, although guidance from their Lord has come to them,
24. Or does man get whatever he wishes?
25. For, it is to God: the hereafter and the first,
26. And how many an angel in the heavens: whose intercession makes one not unneeding of anything, except after that God has given leave to whomever He will and is Content,
[The concept of intercession has been rejected a few times in the Qur’an, clearly and unequivocally,
Yet, all sects of Islam still preach that prophets and their descendants, angels and whoever else … will intercede for the believers …
The concept as such is not different from the concept of belonging to a political party, whereby the right connections get you the favours that you need,
And that’s because religions still do not understand the purpose of their messages: that is the refinement of their character and the expansion of their minds,
If those very basic concepts are understood: the concept of intercession is reduced to nonsense …

Worse than the intercession of imams and holy men in Islam is the intercession of saints in Christianity, and indeed the intercession of the gurus of India: “hang my photo on your wall and love me and meditate on my name and image … and I’ll take you to heaven/god …”: is the message those saints and gurus tell their followers …
In any case of intercession: the believer give up their pursuit of knowledge seeking and character refinement, even if they don’t admit it and deny that it is allowed in their belief: in the belief that their intercessor will erase all their faults and deliver them to wherever their fanciful thinking has led them …]

27. That those who believe not in the hereafter: name the angels female names,
28. They have no knowledge, they only follow suspicion, and suspicion makes one not unneeding of anything from the Law,
29. Do denounce [addressing the messenger] those who turned away from Our remembrance and sought only the low lives,
30. This is their reach of knowledge, that your Lord is Better Knower of who have lost His Way, and Better Knower of who have been guided,

31. And to God what’s in the heavens and what’s in the earth, to give back those who did ill what they did, and give back those who did good: by the good,
32. Those who avoid the biggest of transgressions and obscenities, excepting blunders, that God is Vast of forgiveness, and is He more Informed of you [the people], as He constructed you from the earth, and as you are embryos in your mothers’ wombs, so, pretend no purity for your selves, is he more informed about them who refuge,
[As the Ghita puts it, roughly: once in a physical body, whether a super being or a human, one is bound by physical laws and subject to the modes of nature,
It is when people pretend to have transcended the laws of nature, or have a ritual of some kind which purifies them …: that their piety becomes indeed harmful to themselves and to the people who follow them and believe them …,

And I should emphasise always that this is true in the innateness of our minds …, and by highlighting its truthfulness we free it from the claim of exclusive ownership by religion, and from the dogmas and beliefs which have been attached to it,
Dogmas and beliefs which have fogged the innateness of people’s minds, and hence polarised them between religions and haters of them,

And by referencing the Ghita or other Books we only show you that Virtue is one, hence bigotries and difference between the messages are only a human invention.

This is not an attempt to re-instate the literality of any Book, whether the Qur’an's or any other … and if you see it this way: you are still a captive of bigotry and difference … however wise and smart you might believe you are …]

33. Have you seen him, who has turned away?
34. He gave a little then he withheld,
35. Has he the knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?
36. Or was he not informed in what is in the Books of Moses,
37. And Abraham who honoured [his word]?
38. That no burdened self is burdened by the burdens of another, [and of course, conversely: no self can carry the burden of others in order to relieve them]
39. And that man gets only what he pursued,
40. And that his pursuit will be seen,
41. Then will be rewarded to him the most fitting reward,
[Regardless of the stories that Qur’anic interpreters might have told, this is highlighting again the previous verses, that by making a step in the right direction: then believing that full knowledge and faith have been accomplished: one actually regresses, and as if no step forward was taken,

Without reservations: this is the story of pretty much every self-proclaimed guru or a religious preacher of any kind …
And the mention of the Books of Moses and Abraham is saying that you can’t believe this Book alone, if you’ve not believed the Books of before …:
Islamic and non-Islamic scholars alike just need to open their eyes wider, and their ears …]

42. And it is to your Lord: the Terminal,
43. And that it is He Who made [people] laugh and cry,
44. And that it is He Who deadened and enlivened,

45. And that He created the pair, the male and the female,
46. From a drop, if provided,
[The three verbs “to provide or to oblige”, “to wish” and “to produce semen”: are, not surprisingly, form the same root in Arabic,
Thus, the word that has been translated to “provided” in this verse: is meant to allude to the three essences in the mind …
On the other hand, linking this essence with the essence of parity and gender in the previous verse: is not an arbitrary decision,
So, the reader on the road of knowledge stops and ponders,
Rather than take the easy natural way that Islamic scholars have taken: that is the thought of sex and reproduction alone …]

47. And that upon Him is the other/last construction,
[Again, alluding to the fact that humanity has been constructed a few times …
And that the cycles of time re-cast the selves in bodies and worlds fitting their level of awareness …]

48. And that He is Wealthiest/most Unneeding, and of most Ownership,
49. And that is He the Lord of Sirius,
[Islamic scholars are too quick to notice the pagan practices of other beliefs, while they’re pointed to the Cube, bowing and prostrating to it five times a day …
But not to worry, if people are attached to objects, they will persist on their attachment …
Pagan practices of all Abrahamic religions have taken a “scientific” twist today …, and the Net is overflowing with theories about “energy” flowing from places and objects of worship,
Theories that only the already believer will believe,
Their authors and their buyers have one goal: this is to affirm their pagan beliefs …, and in the hope that more weak-minded people can be persuaded,
But those have already been worshipping places and stones …, albeit in other forms, and are looking now for something that sounds more powerful …
That will bring them long coveted health, wealth and sex …
The irrationality and the illusion are dressed as “science”,
This gives ammunition only to atheists and materialists, who tend to be better at fact finding,
The diametrical views need one another to survive,
The total diversion from spirituality can be blamed mainly on religions and their persistence on fallacious beliefs,
And by the laws of nature themselves: both diametrical views will implode in a total absence of mind, and hence a very low form of life …

Sirius, however, has a long history in human memory,
It is still the brightest star in humanity’s sky,
Legend in India has it that Krishna pointed his finger to the sky and a star was thus born,
The star was this one, Sirius, not the one that Indian astronomers have pointed to, with all due respect to their very ancient astronomical knowledge,
But the incident of pointing to the sky did not take place only in this time cycle …
This is symbolic only …
But as humanity distanced, in earlier cycles of existence, Sirius was their Reference …, and for the earth as a planet: Polaris and Polaris Australis …]

50. And that is He vanquished Ad [Eden] the early one,
51. And Thamud, so what has He preserved?
52. And the people of Noah [Atlantis] of before [before Thamud], that they were them darker and more tyrannical,
53. And the Mekiftu [a pre-ancient Mediterranean civilisation between Greece and Italy] was lower falling,
54. So, it was confused by what is confusing,
55. So, by which of your [the messenger] Lord’s Elements do they [the mentioned civilisations] argue backward and forward?
[Islamic scholars read that the verse is addressed to the messenger, exposing their total misunderstanding …]

56. This is a warner from the first warners,
57. Has drawn nigh: the nigh drawer,
[I know I’m stretching the English language a lot, the purpose is to keep pointing to the essences, rather than explaining …]

58. It [the nigh drawer] has not below God a remover,
59. So are you [the people], by this discourse, astonished?
60. And you laugh and you don’t cry,
61. And you are conceited,
62. Prostrate to God, and abide in Him
