Surah 59
The Gathering
1. Transcend in God what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, is He the Exalted the Sovereign,
2. It is He who brought the ones who disbelieved of the people of the Book out of their homes to the beginning of the gathering, you [the people] had not thought they would come out, or they thought that their castles protected them from God, so God came to them from where they did not anticipate, and cast He fright onto their hearts, destroying their homes with their own hands and the hands of the believers; do consider O you people with vision,
3. And if hadn’t written God evacuation upon them, He would have made them suffer in the low life, and for them in the hereafter the suffering of the fire,
4. That is because they antagonised God and His messenger, and who antagonises God: God is of a severe consequence,
[Once again, the history written by Islamic scholars of different persuasions with reference to those verses must be dismissed completely,
And one can see firsthand today the blatant bias of Arab, and indeed world journalism in reporting the tragic events of Middle Eastern wars: so how can one rely in any degree on the accuracy of stories written over a millennium ago?
People who believe them are people who love dishonesty and believe it’s the solution to every political and ideological problem,
Dishonest reporting, political and religious propaganda … bring onto them more disasters, but lessons are barely learnt …
Not surprisingly, the events that can be overread from those verses: point to a situation similar to today’s, whereby people are destroying their own homes and towns on both sides of every conflict …
The verses aren’t by any means meant to document particulars events, and this is demonstrated by the vagueness and the lack of detail,
Believers and non-believers … of the people of the Book: can be a reference to both sides of the sub-mentioned conflict … like today’s situation indeed …
And as we’ve said on the Page before: the expression “people of the Book” refers to all the people of Abrahamic religions, the Muslims included,
And the “Book” is a reference to all the deliveries of it: the Torah, the Gospel, the Qur’an,
And although the Hikmah of the Druze stands out as being purely philosophic writings, by hiding it and by adding their interpretations: the Druze clergy across the centuries have covered the Hikmah in the same way other religions have covered their Books …, and the Druze now are none but another group of the “people of the Book”,
This is being demonstrated by the tensions building up between their different tribes and their divisions and by their alliances with the warring religions of the Middle East.
The moral of those verses is that people have to bear the consequence of their actions and irrational emotions, and of their ill-intent and desire to harm …
The dark energy of harbouring such thoughts and feelings will have to explode, causing harm and suffering to everyone … no side is excluded …]
5. What you have severed of ease, or left it holding on its foundations: it is by God’s leave and so He vexes the aberrant ones,
[This is saying that if relations have been affected by disputes and conflicts: it’s happening because God’s Law allowed it, and this usually has consequences on both sides …
Neighbouring peoples and countries, which by the nature of their geographic closeness share a lot: have to learn to be fair with one another, otherwise a constant state of peril will prevail, making the lives on both sides very difficult …
This is being demonstrated today at every local and international level,
But the rulers, driven by the passions of their people, driven by the false promises of their rulers …: live constantly in the hope of totally annihilating the other side,
Naturally, this cannot happen. They hence write upon themselves misery, and their resources and efforts are totally wasted …
In the minds which have turned upside-down, those verses are read as a commandment of war, and the severing of “ease” is read as “cutting palm trees”,
Hence, in their tribal wars, it’s their duty to burn their enemies’ crops, as we’ve seen recently, when wheat fields were burnt ...
At the time when food production is compromised by severe climate conditions, and when food shortage is still widely spread: one would have to be totally thoughtless to ligitimise food destruction …]
6. And God did not supply his messenger from them [the warring tribes], and you [the people] did not forward to him horses and nor camels, but God dispatches His messenger to whom He will, God is Capable of all things,
[This is saying that the messenger needs not the material support, or any other support from the people, and that all events are ruled by God’s Law,
When people support their messenger, it is for their own good and their own self-satisfaction, hence the following verse:]
7. What God supplied His messenger from the people of the countries: it is for God and the messenger, and to the close ones, and the orphans and the poor, and the ones on the Way, so there may not be governance [we read “ دَولةٌ”] among the wealthy of you, and whatever the messenger has brought to you: do take it, and whatever he deters you from: do refrain from it, and take refuge in God, that God is of a sever consequence,
[Contrary to this commandment, which clearly and unequivocally says that governance should not be in the hands of the wealthy, and that wealth should not automatically lead to governance: the Arab and the wider Islamic world still admit wealth as a criterion for governance and the inheritance of governance,
And although they see that corruption paralyses their countries and causes poverty and inequality: they still rally behind their wealthy leaders, whose main aim is to accumulate more wealth, and be big players in the world games of money and power,
And again, I say that this is not wrong because the Book has said it, but because innate human nature says so, and bearing in mind the mounting evidence,
There’s no commandment in the Books that is not in the deepest depths of our human psyches, if people can’t reach it there, it’s because they’ve covered it with false beliefs,
Islamic scholars' wrong reading, and indeed interpretation, of this verse: is yet another sign of having totally lost their good innate reason, and replaced with heathen laws and traditions.]
8. For the poor and the immigrants/forsakers [of worldly aims], who have been brought out of their homes and their money, seeking elevation from God and contentment, they support God and His messenger, those are the honest ones,
9. And those who have settled in the Circle/House and [settled in] the faith before them: love those who migrated to them, they find no need in their hearts of what they were given [of material possessions], they favour [others] over themselves, even if destitution is in them, and whoever evade the avarice of their own selves: those are the achievers,
10. And those who came after them say: “our Lord, forgive for us and for our brethren, and for those who preceded us in faith, and make not in our hearts grudge for those who believed, our Lord Thou art Kind and Compassionate”,
[“Those who preceded us in faith” … are the Jews or the Christians …]
11. Have you not seen those who are hypocrites? they say to their brethren of the people of the Book who disbelieved: “if you were forced out, we would come out with you, and we do not obey anyone of you ever, and if you fought we would support you”, and God witnesses that they are liars,
12. If they were forced out, they do not come out with them, and if they were fought, they do not support them, and if they supported them, they would turn their backs, then they wouldn’t conquer,
[This indeed describes the deals and treaties that the warring sects and religions of the Middle East make with one another, only to break them as soon as they are put into implementation,
Hypocrisy is called diplomacy in their understanding, and cleverness in their dishonest language,
Their leaders display loving gestures when they greet each other with handshakes and broad smiles, to show their masses that they are allies, but as soon as the politics of war, money and arms deals have changed: the handshakes and the deals vanish, and war is back …
Ever since this chain of civil wars between the religions and political entities and their factions broke out in Lebanon almost half a century ago: the many religions and political parties: take any two of them randomly: at one stage they were allies, at another stage they were staunch enemies …
And when they run out of enemies: they split themselves, and the two splits become the new enemies on the battlefields of constant war …, with each split producing its own version of a conspiracy theory behind the split, naming the foreign countries which have funded and blessed it …
War is their way of life. Don’t believe them when they say they love peace and harmony. It’s words they’ve learned but don’t understand. They have no other cause to live. They brag about being able to go back to the markets to trade and live normally and revel every night as soon as the battle is over and a new truce is declared, and to rebuild ruined buildings and infrastructure …
War is the outlet of their grudge; their religions and their political ideologies preach grudge first and foremost. The first thing they tell their followers is to identify their enemies and how much to hate them and how best to antagonise them …
So when we say on this Page that the heathen way hasn’t changed since long before Islam: we don’t exaggerate one bit. The Book has testified …
And the ironic thing is that non-Muslims and Qur’anic haters: use those verses to say that only the Muslims are the bad ones, going by the commands of their Book, to paint themselves as the civilised and the cultured ones,
But the history, recent and past, of all religions and their factions, and of all political entities and their factions tell a different story. Those verses of the Grand Book are describing them all, accurately and fairly.]
13. You [the faithful people] are of stronger awe upon their hearts than God; that is because they are a people who do not discriminate,
[Although not one group of people can now be referred to as the “faithful people”: the faithful people are always spread everywhere …
They are the ones who don’t take sides in the tribal wars and reap no benefit from them. Their strength is their reason and fairness, and when they talk … heathen people are frightened from them and pretend not to hear them.]
14. They do not fight you altogether except in fortressed towns or from behind walls, their might is strong between themselves, you reckon them united and their hearts are scattered, that is because they are a people who do not reason,
15. Like the example of the ones before them, they have experienced the calamity of their matter/aim, for them is severe suffering,
16. Like the example of Satan, when he said to man: “go far/disbelieve”, so when he [man] went far, said he: “I am free from you, I fear God, the Lord of the worlds”,
[Indeed, Satan has more fear of his Lord than the most pious people of religions …]
17. So their consequence has been that they both [man and Satan] are in the fire eternally, and this is the reward of the darkened ones,
18. O you who have believed, take refuge in God, and may every self look/examine what she has presented to tomorrow, and take refuge in God, that God is All Informed about what you do,
19. Be not like them who forgot God, so He made them forget their selves, those are the aberrant ones,
[ ]
20. Are not equal: the dwellers of the fire and the dwellers of the garden, the dwellers of the garden are them the achievers,
21. If We dropped this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would see it shudder of awe of reverence of God, and these are models We draw to the people, may they ponder,
22. He is God, Who is no god but He, the Knower of the unseen/absence and the witness, is He Compassion the Compassionate,
23. He is God, Who is no god but He, the Monarch, the Sanctum, the Peace, the Faithful, the Dominant, the Exalted, the Mighty, the Magnum, transcends He what they affix,
24. He is God, the Creator, the Liberator, the Illustrator, to Him are the Radiant Summa, transcend in Him what is in the heaven and the earth, is He the Exalted the Sovereign
[The Arabic letters used in “names” of those two verses are them the letters which start the Surahs which are referred to as the “seven twos”, being the fourteen, “ألسبع المثاني”, as explained before on COB,
Bearing in mind that the first written version of the Qur’an didn’t have dots, the two sets of letters become identical, confusing also “و” and “ق", with the exception of “ط" and "د",
The similar sounds of those two letters must be behind the confusion,
The early versions of the Qur’an that have been hidden in religious institutes will have to be published one day: for the world to see the extent of the miss-transcriptions that the Qur’an has been subjected to,
The Radiant Summa are the Dimensions, which are called Hudood in the Hikmah, and indeed in the Qur’an.]
