Surah 74

The Wealthy/The Dressed Up

1. O you wealthy,
2. Get up and warn [the people],
3. And aggrandise your Lord,
4. And cleanse your clothes,
5. And abandon the filth,
6. And oblige not [… others, after doing them favours], so you may demand more [we read “
تستكثرْ"],
7. And to your Lord be forbearing,
[I can’t see how these verses are seen to be addressed to the prophet or the messenger. They are obviously addressing ordinary wealthy people, who are happy with their luck, and warning them and urging to warn others …]

8. For, when it is struck in the strikable [the top of the head in COB’s reading],
9. This is thence a day that is not easy,
10. To the disbelievers [it is] uneasy,
11. Leave Me with whom I created alone,
12. And I made for him money extendedly,
13. And male children witnessing,
14. And I facilitated for him a facilitation,
15. Then he became greedy that I increase,
16. Nay, he was to Our verses stubborn,
17. I shall exhaust him [when he’s] ramping up,
18. He reckoned and measured,
19. Killed/damned be he, how he measured,
20. Then killed be he, how he measured,
21. Then he looked,
22. Then he frowned and hurried [prematurely],
23. Then he turned away and snubbed [the message],
24. Then said he: “this is none but magic that impresses [we read “
يؤثِر"],
25. "This is but the say of humans",
26. I shall make him attend Saqar,
27. And what do you [the reader] know about Saqar?
28. [It] leaves none and excludes none,
29. Visibly extending to the people,
30. Upon it are nineteen [?],
31. And We made not the dwellers/owners of hell except [of] angels, and We made not their possessions/equipment except as a dazzlement to those who disbelieved, so that those who were given the Book be certain, and [so that] those who have faith increase in faith, and [so that] those who were given the Book and the faithful be not in doubt, and [so that] those who have an illness in their hearts and the disbelievers say: “what model/example did God want in this?”; thus God bewilders whom He will and guides whom He will, and they, your Lord’s soldiers, do not know except Him, and it is none but a remembrance to the humans,
[This is the second Surah (the first being 47) that in COB’s view has no esoteric layer behind and between its verses,
And once again the emphasis is on the writing style …
In this last verse, the aim seems to point to groups of people, using titles and adjectives, rather than pointing to virtues …
It is never the case that titles and adjectives are used in the Qur’an except as pointers to virtue and hence the individuals who embrace it,
In this instance: the point is inconclusive,

If you argue that the point is that the wealth and equipment, or numbers, as interpreters read: are a dazzlement by which true believers and the people of the Book are not impressed: the question begs itself: what is the outcome, whether reward or punishment, to the “angels” who seem to be having a great time enjoying the numbers or the wealth …?
A mundane matter such as wealth cannot be dealt with using supernatural assumptions. The Qur’an or other Books for that matter: deal with errors from their practical consequences, and the hereafter can be taken as a forthcoming life or a cycle of time …

Then the mention of “God’s soldiers”: makes it clear that the aim is to point to a group of people, in the ongoing rivalry between Muslims, and between Muslims and perhaps people of other faiths,
Then the disbelievers are quoted to question: what model or example did god want by this: admitting that there’s confusion and incoherence,

The expression is borrowed from 2:26 where it is used fitting perfectly the essence of the verse,
In this case: what is the model about which the non-believers are confused?
If you say it is that the guardians or the owners of hell are angels, and their job is to entice the people to hell, while they know only god … what kind of mythology, or indeed moral value, is being taught?

The Qur’anic interpreters might have written volumes on this …
The main aim of each group of them has been to install themselves or their holy people as god’s soldiers, who are in control of hell and reward and punishment,

I see that this verse was aimed at the time to favour one group of Muslims over another group of Muslims or Muslims over other people of the Book – the latter in both cases being the wealthier, in order to give the favoured an advantage here on earth: in the shadow of a supposed advantage in the heaven,

No one should be surprised that the authenticity of a small number of Qur’anic Surahs is questionable, provided that some Islamic sects say they have a few Surahs that are not in the mainstream version …
The two Surah’s that COB has so far questioned can be easily used for insinuating division and self-selection, I hope that this is now clear in everyone's mind.]

32. Nay, [I swear] by the moon,
33. And by the night as it terminates,
34. And by the morning as it opens,
35. It is one of the great things,
36. The warner to the people,
37. For whoever of you, willing to advance or regress,
38. Every self is captive of what she has earned,
39. Except the dwellers of the right-hand side,
40. In gardens wondering,
41. About the criminals,
42. What brought you down into Saqar?
43. They said: “we were not of the praying ones,
44. “And we were not feeding the poor,
45. “And we were reveling with the reveling ones,
46. “And we were denying/falsifying the day of religion,
47. “Until certainty came to us”,
48. Hence, it will not benefit them: the intercession of the intercessors,
49. So, how come they are about the reminder: rejecters,
50. As if they are donkeys on the alert,
51. Fleeing from a lion,
52. Nay, every one of them is wanting to be given published papers,
53. Nay, they are unafraid of the hereafter,
54. Nay, it is a reminder,
55. He who wants: remembers it,
56. And they won’t remember unless God will, He is Worthy of piety and worthy of forgiveness [alternatively: He is the Home or the Family of piety and forgiveness]
[In this last verse, the word “ahl” is used to conjure up the concept of the “family of the house”,
This is another expression used in the Qur’an to point to the good people who have achieved the goal of their existence, that is the Union,
Like other such expressions: it has been adopted by different parties as their own,
Thus, self-selection and self-judgement occurred at the early days of the spread of Islam, with each tribe claiming such titles …: although this was not judgement day, and no one from heaven or a Book was making such declarations and judgments …

This is indeed every Abrahamic religion’s fault, which can be corrected by the smallest measure of reasonableness,
The wars between the different sects of Abrahamic religions, unlike what each of them believe them to be: are not the wars of good against evil, with each sect or group judging themselves to be the source and the force of good:
But indeed, the war of irrationality versus irrationality,

The victory each of them have promised themselves is not achievable, and every little skirmish comes as a warning that victory is not guaranteed, and most importantly: there will not … there will not be supernatural intervention supporting one group over another: despite the false claims on every side to the contrary,

People have only their reasoning minds to be guided by, and looking at the wars of the past, and as once said on COB: it is the party that is less irrational and morally ahead of the other, even by the tiniest degree: that ends up losing less, and hence declaring itself victorious,

To the rational person, the verses of this Surah are paving the way for such disasters, although in a very subtle manner,
The Qur’an is innocent of such statements,
The wisdom and the philosophy that it teaches are not in the narrow scope of vision of the self-proclaimed believers in it,
Hence, the tampering has escaped them,
They still have a long way to learn to read it …
As for those who hate it and believe that their beliefs are better:
Those indeed, still have a longer way to travel …]


 

Surah 75

The Uprise

1. I do not swear by the day of the Uprise,
2. And neither do I swear by the self-admonishing self,
3. Does man think that We won’t assemble his bones?
4. Nay, We are capable of straightening his manifestation [we read “
بيانه"],
5. Nay, man wants to be proud [we read “
يفخر"] in front of it [his body],
6. Asks he: “so, when is the day of the Uprise?”,
7. When the vision is brightened,
8. And the moon is eclipsed,
9. And the Sun and the Moon are summoned,
10. Man thence says: “where is the escape?”,
11. Nay, there’s no resort,
12. To your Lord is then the settlement,
13. Informed is thence man, of what he advanced and what he delayed,
14. Nay, man, over himself, is [the] supervision,
15. Even if he lays down his excuses,
16. Move not your [addressing man] tongue by it [your destiny], in order to hasten it,
17. That it is upon Us: its [man’s destiny] summation and the reading of it,
18. So, when We read it: follows he [we read “
أتْبَع"] its reading,
19. Then, it is upon Us its clarification,
[The flow of essences is that of the reality of mankind being the manifestation of Existence …
Yes, the use of seemingly unrelated words is deliberate,
Because if familiar ones are used, the intellect will most likely bring out its load of religious preconceptions,

The imagery of judgement day is different in every religion,
Although, a small step out of the preconception: should free the vision,
Religions will continue to differ on their versions of the theatricality of the end-of-days,
But the reality is already in their minds now,
When the realisation that the human image itself is none but the condensation of existential essences,
This is what assembles bones and organs, and their functioning …, and man’s activity and inertia …
And whether these are perceived to be assembled at a particular time or not: their essences are eternal,
And the conscious soul taking a manifestation: blames only herself for her forgetfulness.

As has been mentioned a few times in the Qur’an, there comes a time when time ends. And by its ending …: Existence bestows upon it its start, its flow and its end,
When facing reality that is beyond the limits of physical concepts: consciousness is lost: if it had been lost in the illusions of temporary concepts …

All the verses of the Books of Abrahamic religions: it’s about time they are taken out of the context of the limited understanding of the past …, that has been the rock upon which each religion have built their temple …, and claimed it to be the heaven …
Physics, neurosciences and other branches of science and the arts of transcendental meditation: will all converge …, with each coming from its starting point, seemingly far apart,
But human intellect and morality have to be up to a level that enables them to embark on such a joyful journey,
Otherwise: the recycling of organic matter and endemic hatred, in different ways and under different laws: will be people’s pettiest purpose of a life, dressed up to look great by religious and political institutes and commercial advertisers …]

20. Nay, but you love the hasty/immediate one,
21. And you neglect the hereafter,
22. [Some] faces are thence: lively,
23. To their Lord [they are] looking,
24. And [some] faces are thence running [in panic],
25. Believing that a quashing will be done to them,
26. Nay, when it [consciousness] has reached the collar bones,
27. And it is said: “who has cleared?” [we read “
راقَ"],
28. And it is thought [we read “
ظُنَّ"] that it is a farewell,
29. And the leg is intertwined with the leg,
30. And to your Lord is then the drive,
[Far from being the description of a scene from a horror movie, this is the ultimate purpose of an existence, the exchange of looks with One …, and the retirement of the legs … and the organs of activity …
Of course, if you anticipate a garden of food and sex, those verses would be incomprehensible, or thought to be about a torture technique,

It is not expected of everyone to aspire to this state of existence/non-existence,
But Islamic scholars and preachers, old and new, and especially the new ones who have received modern education, and have realised that the 1500-year old understanding of their Book is driving them to their self-annihilation: ought to embark on archiving the mainstream interpretations behind this understanding, even if they’ve been backed up by hadeeth attributed to the prophet, the Imams and the Khalifs …
The paradise of food and sex has been their jail sentence, that has deprived them from the vast world of knowledge and moral advancement,
They cannot continue to use it as their call to war … against an enemy: who could be one of them …!
A clever and an educated approach is required for their victory …: over their own backwardness first …

Their Book is what is needed to reconcile all Abrahamic religions, and indeed, to open the gates for the Middle East and the West to Far Eastern disciplines …

The quick switching from one person to another throughout those verses is an invitation to a ponder and contemplation. Convictions that are hastily conceived are often false. The track to a high mountain peak is never immediate and easy.]

31. He has not believed, and nor has he prayed/connected,
32. But lied he has, and turned away,
33. Then went he to his family swaggering,
34. You had better,
35. Then again, you had better,
36. Does he think, man, that he be left aimlessly?
37. Wasn’t he a drop from a good effusion of Semen,
[This is alluding to what COB calls the First Encounter, of the Whole Mind - if Hikmah terminology is used - with Mere Existence upon the projection of an Animate Image to the Whole Mind,
This is the beginning of Beauty and Love, which is the cause of continuous re-creation …
The Semen is referred to as the Water in other Surahs, or the Helium in the Hikmah - not being the known inert gas, but a gestalt of the highest form of energy/substance from which everything animate is created,
It is the First Substance to exist below the Spirit, below Mere Existence,
The terminology matters little. And when the intellect attempts to conceptualise: it fails, and it resorts to mythology and religion. These horizons are meant to be visioned …

You will notice that every ancient culture, however primitive it might look, has a creation story: that is a perspective of this brief recount,
All those stories should be respected and preserved, and made known to the anthropologist and the studier of philosophy …
They are equally valid: the visions of their transcendentalist: in their bodies and surroundings …
It is people’s limited understanding, their passions and grudges, flared by their clergy and leaders …: that translate those visions into war, lust and religious rituals …

The attempts by Abrahamic religions’ missionaries all around the world to wipe those stories out and replace them by their own: will not do those people any favour. The mythologies of Abrahamic religions themselves are as primitive and as fallacious,


What is most important is to spread a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect between the peoples of the world. Whether the god who loves cooperation and respect became a man or a bird, died on a cross or a donkey, dwells in these stones in that town or that mountain …: is a total distraction,
The peoples of the world need to be told that all their beliefs, laws and traditions, all of them: came from one Source, that is meant to make them all live harmoniously and cooperatively ...]

38. Then he was a sticky substance, thus He created and made [everything] just/straight,
39. And He made from him the pair: the male and the female,
40. Isn’t that Capable of enlivening the dead?



 

Surah 76

Man

1. Has a period of time come upon man, [when] he was nothing remembered/mentioned?
[As the question, at the surface, is self-contradicting, if the doer of the remembering is meant to be man himself:
The question then is taken to be directed to another entity higher than man …: which by virtue of being higher: should know the answer beforehand,
In which case, as well as the case of the question being directed to man:
The question becomes rhetorical, aiming at saying: there has not been a period of time when man wasn’t mentioned or remembered.

As has been said on COB many times: there can’t be a universe without man, and the entire of the cosmic manifestation is dedicated to man, or to put it more explicitly: it is none but the extension of man,

Religion and science would like to see man as something created within or from the universe,
If we put the Creation Theory aside, for being neither provable nor disprovable: we are left with the theory of science,
This one can’t find any evidence of “will” or consciousness in matter, and hence assumes that human consciousness is just another accident of nature …, and that the main driver of cosmic activity is … random events …
But one can’t but ask: why are there “random” events, which seem to have started as soon as the Big Bang occurred?
There are physical laws which drive those events: one can assert …, and perhaps trigger them: one can argue,

As a “small” ball of energy before the Big Bang: were physical laws there?
If you say: things can’t be anything else: in order to evade answering the question:
You’ve admitted an inevitability,
And you’ve gone back to the mind track of creationism, inadvertently;

When things happen in the world: they do by the guidance of physical laws, which now, and after 14 billion years of cosmic evolution: do exist, and have indeed driven every cosmic event: from the creation of the smallest particles and the propagation of waves: to the creation of galaxies and the clusters thereof: and indeed to the emergence of proteins and cells which paved the way for me to evolve to asking this question,
Nothing that happens in the universe can be said to be alien to it,

The consciousness that is now typing those words: is the result of 14 billion years of cosmic manifestation that has been triggered and driven by immutable and ubiquitous physical laws, if the argument of science is to be followed,
This consciousness is from the universe, and can’t be from anything else …

If you’re a passionate lover of “random”, you would like to imagine an idea that has never been in the universe before human genius invented it:
But bear in mind: that your brain and its wiring, and all the logical circuits of it, and the corridors of imagination …: have all been shaped, developed and finetuned by those physical laws,
Your inventions and ideas are none but potential events in the contexts of those physical laws and can’t be anything else …: before you materialised them,

This is not an invitation to worship a god of Abrahamic religions or any other religion for that matter,
This is only pointing you to look at the world from the standpoint of being it,
Perhaps you’ll start to see that the best place to look for mankind’s origin and the universe’s have got to be lurking deep inside your mind: so you look for them there: rather than in the rituals of religions or the dust of the universe …

This line of reasoning has been laid down a few times on COB, I only hope that upon following its steps: some can find comfort in being on a clear road: rather than hope, in looking for one.]

2. We have created man from a drop, [of] a mixture, We try him, hence We made him hearing [and] seeing,
3. We have guided him to the Way, [he is] either grateful or ungrateful/distancing,
4. That We have set up for the distant ones: chains and shackles and fire [of passions and karmic attachments],
5. That the virtuous ones drink from a chalis, its cocktail has been of essences:
6. An eye/spring by which the abiders in God drink, they make it gush out profusely,
7. They are redeemed by the warnings [we read “
النُّذُر"], and are fearful of a day: its evil is ominous,
8. They give food for His love, to the poor, the orphan and the captive,
9. That we feed you for God’s Countenance, we want from you no payment or gratitude,
10. That we are fearful of our Lord’s day, that is frowning and humongous,
11. So God protected them [from] the evil of that day, and met them [we read “
لقاهم”] [with] liveliness and happiness,
12. And rewarded He them for what they forbore [over] demons and anger [we read “
جِنة"],
13. Leaning in it on coaches, they see no sun in it and no cold wind,
[This is consistent with COB’s description of the worlds which are not fueled by energy as we know it, and thus light and temperature are not dictated by fire or the absence of it.]

14. Cast down on them are its shades, and its fruit is easily reapable,
15. Hovers above them ]in[ dishes of silver, and goblets that were carved,
16. Carved of silver, they measured it in measurement,
[The fruit being easily reapable should be taken as the joy of knowledge that is easily accessible,
As for the dishes of silver … carved, as we read it: can be said to hint to flying objects resembling the unidentified flying objects which have been photographed a number of times around the world …, with a shiny metallic luster,
The insertion of “measured in measurement” takes one’s mind to think in that direction, rather than what Islamic scholars have been dreaming of, and inviting their followers to dream along with them: of a holiday resort, where the Muslims are served by waiters holding silver dishes and glasses of food and beverage …

People who have vivid dreams of different worlds, whether in a dreaming state or in hypno-vigilance: know too well that the laws of movement and inertia, and the laws of sensory perception are different there, and find it difficult to explain them in today’s language …

Those verses and others, have reduced the purpose of life to the Muslims to a trip to a luxury hotel, little wonder why scientists and philosophers of the Islamic Empire who took a curious look into life and tried to study natural phenomena and mathematics … were accused of kufr and many were doomed to die of torture: only because their minds could not be reduced to the shariah of killing, eating, vendetta, inheritance, marriage and extramarital sex, washing and ablution, hoarding of money, raping the captives of war, looting after battle … and of course the rituals,
This is the comprehensive shariah they are proud of and believe it to be the border of their minds, as taught in their academic institutes in every Islamic country whatever their sect of Islam and their political alliances …

The Grand Book is not their property, and ought to be freed from their tyranny, so the world can read it, and so the divisions, the animosities, and the reduction of mind and spirit that they forced upon the believers in it: can be lifted and the world can look forward to a better, cleverer and more virtuous future …]

17. And they are made to drink a glass, its cocktail is gingerly,
18. The eye/spring in it is named Nectar,
19. And hovers above them newborns, made immortal, if you saw them, you reckon them loose pearls,
[The similarity of newborns or children to pearls: is again hinting to a form of existence where there are no extremities, and the eyes are hidden … until contact is made consciously, and the eyes twinkle and look …,
This is not a form of existence that Islamic scholars are interested in, they preferred, some of them, to believe that these are objects for their perverted sexual fantasies …,

Such images must’ve been projected to the vision of the messenger Gabriel in a state of hypno-vigilance, so the verses were inspired in the language of the time …, to point to higher states of existence, which have been pointed to in a number of Books, from the Far East to the Middle East.]

20. And when you see them there, you see abundance and a great estate,
21. Covers them clothing of Sundus [that turns] green and shiny [we read “
خضَرَ و اسْتَبْرَقَ”], and they’ve landed [we read “حَلّوا"] as knights of a high station, and made them their Lord drink a pure beverage,
[The word Sundus seems to point at that time to some royal silk fabric, possibly imported from China, where the fine weaving and colouring of silk had been practised for thousands of years …
The word we’ve translated to “knights” happens to mean also bracelets …, and the word which we’ve translated in this instance to “high station” also means silver …!
Islamic scholars prefer to wear bracelets of gold and silver over being “knights” from a high station …]

22. That this is for you a reward, and your pursuit has been appreciated,
23. That it is Us who made the Qur’an descend upon you [the messenger Gabriel] [as a] descendance,
24. Be forbearing to your Lord’s judgement, and obey not of them a sinful or a disbelieving one,
25. And remember your Lord’s Summum in the early morning and in the evening,
26. And of the night: prostrate to Him, and transcend in Him in a long night,
27. That those who love the hasty/immediate one, they leave behind them a heavily loaded day,
28. That We created them and secured their captivity [in the low world], and when We wish, We swap them for ones like them [an easy] swap,
29. That this is a reminder for whoever wish to take to their Lord a way,
30. And you will not [take a way] until God will, that God is All Knowing Sovereign,
[When the minds and the hearts are ready to look in the straight direction …]

31. Ushers He whom He will into his Compassion, [as for] the darkened ones: arranged He for them a painful suffering
